Accessible carparks

Cowles Stadium has two accessible car parks located at the front entrance (40 metres).

Wheelchair access

Entry to Cowles Stadium is a low gradient ramp. Other doorways are level entry.

Accessible toilets

Cowles Stadium has two accessible toilets. The accessible toilet in the womens' toilets has a baby change table.

Accessible changing rooms

Cowles Stadium has two accessible changing rooms. Both include a shower, bench and toilet.

Quiet times

Cowles Stadium is a destination facility for sports events. There is limited wheelchair seating at the end of the bleachers and this is based on event organiser requirements.

Hearing loop

Cowles Stadium does not have hearing loop.

Baby change

The accessible toilet in the womens' toilets has a baby change table.

Travelling by car, bus and bike

Car
There is a carpark directly outside Cowles Stadium. Access is off Pages Road.

Bus
You can travel to Cowles Stadium on bus number 5. The bus stop is on Pages Road near Ottawa Road, and is 220 metre or a 3 minute walk to the stadium.

Bike
Cowles Stadium has bike stands near the entrance to the stadium.

Graham Condon has four accessible carparks located near the front entrance.

Wheelchair access

Entry to Graham Condon is a flat entrance which has an automatic door.

Poolside

• Pool access is through an entrance gate. Please ask staff to help you if you need assistance.
• Wet wheelchairs are available beside the pool.
• Please bring your own slings for the hoist, they are not available to hire.
• The main pool, teach pool, toddlers pool and spa pool have ramp access.

Sports halls
Access to the sports halls is through double doors. Please ask staff to help you if you need assistance.

Gym
Access to the gym is through double doors and an entrance gate. Please ask staff to help you if you need assistance.

Poolside
You can find the accessible toilets in the change village. There are two accessible toilets with a left and right handrail. Both rooms have an emergency call button.

Foyer
There are two accessible toilets in the foyer near the front desk. Both have left and right handrails and an emergency call button.

Sports halls
There is one accessible toilet in the sports halls.

Poolside change village
There are four accessible changing rooms in the poolside change village.

• Three large changing cubicles are available with a shower and bench seats.
• Two large changing rooms are available with an electric adjustable bed, shower and toilet with alternate hand side rails and emergency call buttons.

Please bring your own slings for the hoist, they are not available to hire.

Information for carers

The role of the caregiver varies based on individual needs, however you may need to:

• Assist with communication.
• Assist with personal care.
• Help the person you are caring for move through the centre and exiting the centre in an emergency.
• Assist in the pool or actively monitor from poolside.
• Assist in the gym.

Special requirements

If you have special requirements, please speak to one of our events team for additional assistance.

You are welcome to leave your mobility equipment on poolside as long as it is not blocking a walkway or emergency exit. Lifeguards can help you to find a suitable location if needed and can bring your equipment to you when you are ready to leave the pool.

Guide dogs are welcome to be on poolside.

If you would like to visit Graham Condon when it is quiet, we recommend coming between 11am and 2.30pm on weekdays.

Weekends are usually busy all day however this does change depending on the season.

There are three baby change tables near poolside at Graham Condon, you can find them in the change village, womens' changing room and mens' changing room.

There is one baby change in the foyer of Graham Condon.

Travelling by car, bus and bike

Car
There is a carpark to the right of the entrance to Graham Condon. Access is off Sisson Drive.

Bus
You can travel to Graham Condon on bus number 28 or 107. Bus numbers 28 and 107 stop on Main North Road outside Northlands Mall; from the bus stops it is a 440 metre or 6 minute walk through the mall to Graham Condon.

Bike
Graham Condon has bike stands near the main entrance.

Pool temperatures

• Lane pool - temperatures range from 27 to 28.5 degrees
• Teach pool - temperatures range from 30 to 33 degrees
• Toddlers pool - temperatures range from 32 to 34 degrees
• Spa pool - temperatures range from 38 to 40.5 degrees

Jellie Park has seven accessible carparks, you can find these to the left of the main entrance.

Wheelchair access

Entry to Jellie Park is a flat entrance and has two sets of automatic doors. 

Poolside

• Wet wheelchairs are stored in the first aid room. Please as a staff member if you would like to use one.
• Pool access is through an entrance gate. Please ask staff to help you if you need assistance.
• There is a mobile hoist with a chair that you can use for all of the pools. This is available through self-transfer or carer assistance. 
• The outdoor pool and teach pool have ramp access.
• The recreation pool, sports pool and toddlers pool have step access. The recreation pool has a handrail on the left side.
• The steam room and sauna are accessible, however assistance may be needed with the doors.

Foyer
You can find the accessible toilet to the left of the main entrance, this has an automatic door with right handrail.

Poolside
You can find two accessible toilets with showers in the change village.

Accessible changing rooms

Poolside change village

• Six large changing cubicles are available with a shower and bench seats.
• A large changing room is available with a manual adjustable bed, shower with left handrail and toilet with left handrail. No hoist is available in this changing room.
• A smaller changing room is available. The shower has a left handrail and the toilet has a left handrail.

Please bring your own slings for the hoist, they are not available to hire.

• Bus number 120 stops on Clyde Road near Aorangi Road and it is a 630 metre or 7 minute walk from the bus stop to Jellie Park.
• Bus number 29 stops on Memorial Avenue and it is a 530 metre or 7 minute walk from the bus stop to Jellie Park.
• The Orbiter bus stops on Greers Road near Burnside High School and it is a 650 metre or 9 minute walk from the bus stop to Jellie Park

Bike
Jellie Park has 70 bike stands near the main entrance.

• Outdoor pool - temperatures range from 25 to 27 degrees
• Sport pool - temperatures range from 26 to 27.5 degrees
• Recreation pool - temperatures range from 26.5 to 28 degrees
• Teach pool - temperatures range from 30 to 32 degrees
• Toddlers pool - temperatures range from 29 to 31 degrees
• Spa pool - temperatures range from 37 to 39 degrees

Accessible carparks

There are seven accessible carparks available at Pioneer. Five are located at the front entrance (80 metres) and two are located at the back entrance (30 metres).

Wheelchair access

Both the front and back entry to Pioneer is via a flat entrance with automatic doors. There is a low internal ramp into the stadium.

Poolside

• Pool access is through an entrance gate. Please ask staff to help you if you need assistance.
• Wet wheelchairs are available outside the change village.
• Please bring your own slings for the hoist, they are not available to hire.
• The leisure pool has a ramp entrance.
• The lane pool has a mobile step access with a rail. Please ask a lifeguard to put the steps in the pool.
• The teach pool has built in step access with a right handrail.
• The spa pool has a hoist and steps. The hoist is available through self-transfer or carer assistance. 
• The steam room and sauna are accessible, however assistance may be needed with the doors.

Gym
Access to the gym is through an entrance gate. Please ask staff to help you if you need assistance.

Group fitness
You can access the group fitness studios on Level One using the lift located next to the back entrance.

Lounge and kitchen
You can access the lounge and kitchen on Level One using the lift located next to the back entrance.

Dance studio
You can access the dance studio on Level One using the lift located next to the back entrance.

Southern Centre
You can access the Southern Centre on Level One using the lift located next to the back entrance.

Accessible toilets

Poolside
You can find the accessible toilet in the change village and teach pool. The toilet in the change village has a hoist. The toilet in the teach pool also has a large shower area.

Foyer
There are four accessible toilets in the foyer, you can find two larger toilet cubicles in each of the male and female toilets near the back entrance and the stadium entrance. 

Level one
There is an accessible changing room on level one. This has an adjustable bed and toilet, and an automatic opening door.

Accessible changing rooms

Poolside
There is one accessible changing room and four large changing cubicles in the poolside change village. The accessible changing room has an adjustable electric bed, hoist, shower and toilet. The large changing cubicles have a shower and bench seat.

Please bring your own slings for the hoist, they are not available to hire.

Level one
There is an accessible changing room on level one. This has an adjustable bed and toilet, and an automatic opening door.

The Southern Centre is a multi-sensory environment which uses a range of lighting effects. These effects are unlikely to bring on seizures. Please speak to staff if you would like more information.

If you would like to visit Pioneer when it is quiet, we recommend coming before 9am or between 10am and 2.30pm on weekdays.

Weekends are usually busy all day however this does change depending on the season.

Hearing loop

Pioneer does not have hearing loop.

Pioneer has carparking located at the front and back entrances.

Bus
You can travel to Pioneer on the Orbiter bus. The bus stop is on Lyttelton Street near Conway Street, and the bus stop is located 130 metres or 2 minutes walk to Pioneer.

Bike
Pioneer has bike stands located at the front and back entrances.

Baby change

Poolside
There are five baby change tables located near poolside. Three change tables are in the change village, and there is one baby change table located in each of the male and female changing rooms.

Foyer
There are two baby change tables located in the main foyer. One in the mens toilets and one in the female toilets near the back entrance and stadium.

• Leisure pool - temperatures range from 30 to 32 degrees
• Lane pool - temperatures range from 26.5 to 27.5 degrees
• Spa pool - temperatures range from 38 to 40 degrees

• Wet wheelchairs are available beside the pool.
• Please bring your own slings for the hoist, they are not available to hire.
• The lane pool, leisure pool, hydrotherapy pool, teach pool, toddlers pool and spa pool all have ramp access.
• The sauna is accessible, however assistance may be needed with the doors.

Gym and group fitness studios
The gym and group fitness studios are accessible. Access is through an entrance gate and double doors. Please ask staff to help you if you need assistance.

Taiwhatiwhati and Pioke rooms
Taiwhatiwhati meeting room is accessible. Please ask staff to help you if you need assistance with the door.

You can travel to Taiora QEII on the 135, 60 and 80 buses.

• Bus number 135 stops directly outside the main entrance.
• Bus number 60 stops on Travis Road outside the Shirley Boys/Avonhead Girls High Schools, and is a 420 metre or 6 minute walk to Taiora QEII.
• Bus number 80 stops on Bower Avenue near Dick Taylor Drive, and is a 310 metre or 4 minute walk to Taiora QEII.

Bike
Taiora QEII has bike stands to the right of the main entrance.
